Nate Snodgrass, Butler High School's standout senior point guard, made his college decision Friday, committing to the Naval Academy.
Snodgrass (6 feet 1) led Butler to the WPIAL Class AAAA semifinals and more Division I colleges were starting to show interest in him, including Duquesne. But Snodgrass decided not to wait any longer to make a decision.
"I visited there a few weeks ago and I just liked the coaches, the players, the campus is nice and the academics are great," said Snodgrass, who has better than 4.0 grade-point average. "It was my No. 1 choice and I just felt like it was the best place for me."
Butler lost in the semifinals Wednesday, but will still be in the PIAA playoffs.
"I chose to decide now because it's between the [WPIAL and PIAA] playoffs and I didn't want it to be a distraction to the team," Snodgrass said.
