Blackhawk ace Brendan McKay earns top state honor



Blackhawk High School pitcher Brendan McKay has been selected the Gatorade Pennsylvania Player of the Year for the second consecutive year.

McKay is 7-0 this season and has not allowed a run in 69 innings, dating to last season. The consecutive scoreless innings streak is the third longest in U.S. high school baseball history.

McKay, a senior who has signed with the University of Louisville, also is hitting .446 for Blackhawk. He will pitch tonight against West Allegheny in the WPIAL Class AAA title game.
