Bogeys 2

Double bogeys 0

Out: 34 • In: 33

Three-round total: 195 • --15

Highlight hole: Couples gave himself a cushion by birdieing the 18th, going two strokes up on Kenny Perry with one round to go. On his approach, he got a decent lie in the rough from about 40 yards and pitched it nicely onto the green.

He said it: When a little birdie walked in front of his tee shot on the first hole Saturday, Couples shooed it away and said, "I could use a few of you." It would take the birdies on Nos. 14, 15 and 18 to stay ahead of Perry. "It seems like I did it all on the last five holes to push ahead again."

Today: Tees off at 9:40 a.m.

He said it: "Everybody saw me last night [at the Pirates game], I was in Row 2 right behind the umpire so everybody kept calling and saying, 'I see you at the game, I see you at the game.' So I was inspired by the Pirates."
