The Duquesne women's volleyball team won its first Atlantic 10 Conference championship with a 3-1 victory Sunday against Virginia Commonwealth in Charles E. Smith Center at George Washington University in Washington.

The top-seeded Dukes defeated second-seeded VCU, 25-13, 25-18, 18-25, 25-23, and earn an automatic bid to the NCAA championship. Both teams were playing in their first A-10 championship match.

Duquesne awaits the NCAA Selection show, which airs at 9:30 p.m. Sunday on ESPNU. This was the first time since 2002 that Dayton or Saint Louis hasn't been the conference champion.

Junior Arielle Love had 21 kills and 10 blocks for the weekend, earning most outstanding player honors.
