Pitt women's basketball freshman Brenna Wise has been named to the ACC's all-freshman team, the conference announced today.
Wise, a Vincentian graduate, averaged 10.0 points and 7.6 rebounds this season, playing in all 29 of the Panthers' (12-17, 4-12 ACC) regular season games. She is the first Pitt player to make the all-freshman team since the school joined the league three years ago.
“We are so proud of Brenna’s accomplishments this season,” Pitt coach Suzie McConnell-Serio said in a statement. “She has impacted our team on and off the court, and her hard work and dedication have earned her this recognition. This is an elite group of players honored by the ACC and we couldn’t be happier to have Brenna represent the University of Pittsburgh among them.”
Pitt will be the 12 seed in the upcoming ACC Tournament, and open play Wednesday at 1 p.m. against 13th-seeded North Carolina.
Former Mt. Lebanon standout Madison Cable, a senior guard at Notre Dame, was named first team all-ACC.
