Pitt cruised to a 56-43 win against Clemson at the Petersen Events Center Sunday.

It was the Panthers’ largest margin of victory against a conference opponent since a 79-48 win against Cincinnati Feb. 1, 2011.

Pitt (11-15, 3-9 ACC) didn’t wait long to blow the game open. After Clemson (11-16, 3-10 ACC) scored the opening basket of the game, the Panthers ripped off a 20-0 run and led 33-12 at halftime. The Tigers cut the lead to 12 at 38-26 with 13:45 left in the second half, but Pitt answered back to finish with a comfortable win.

Point guard Brianna Kiesel — who shot just 2-of-13 in Pitt’s 86-50 loss at North Carolina Thursday, responded by leading the Panthers with 20 points Sunday. Loliya Briggs added 16 points, including 14 in the first half.

Pitt returns to action Thursday with another winnable game against last-place Virginia Tech on the road.
