Rutgers-transfer Derrick Randall has received a waiver from the NCAA and will not have to sit out a season but rather will be eligible to play for the Pitt men's basketball team this season.

Randall is one of four players who left Rutgers this summer in the wake of the Mike Rice scandal. All have been granted the waiver and are eligible at their respective landing schools.

Rutgers fired Rice -- a former Robert Morris head coach -- earlier this year because of an intense public outcry related to a practice video that surfaced on national television showing him physically and verbally abusing players.

Randall is a 6-foot-8 junior forward from the Bronx who averaged 2.1 points and 1.5 rebounds per game for the Scarlet Knights last season.

He is already enrolled at Pitt and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
