It took Neshannock eight innings Friday to keep its perfect record intact.

The Class AA No. 1 Lancers needed to play even longer Monday to stay unbeaten.

Neshannock (17-0, 12-0) scored six runs in the top of the 10th to beat Laurel (1-13, 0-11), 10-4, in Section 5.

The Lancers, one of just two unbeaten teams in the WPIAL along with California, clinched the outright section championship Friday with a 9-8 victory in eight innings against Riverside.

Donald Colucci helped keep Neshannock perfect Monday, hitting a three-run home run in the 10th inning and finishing 3 for 4 with four RBIs and two runs scored.

Other top baseball games

■ Class AA No. 2 Steel Valley (12-1, 10-0) clinched the Section 4 championship with a 9-4 win against host Shady Side Academy (9-6, 8-3). Derek Morrison hit a two-run home run and scored three runs for the Ironmen.

■ Nick Amendola went 3 for 4 with a home run, two doubles and three RBIs to lift host Norwin (13-3, 9-3) past Penn-Trafford (13-4, 7-4), 12-2, in six innings in Class AAAA Section 2.

■ Chad Meyer pitched a one-hitter to help North Hills (9-7, 5-5) earn a playoff spot for the first time since 2007 with a 3-2 victory against visiting Butler (11-4, 8-2) in Class AAAA Section 1.

■ Kiski Area (6-9) scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to beat Class AAA No. 2 Hampton (9-4), 4-3, in non-section. Jack Emmerling pitched five shutout innings and added two hits for Kiski.

■ Zach Murray threw a perfect game, striking out eight, in a 10-0 victory in five innings for Class AAAA No. 2 Baldwin (10-2, 7-2) against host Gateway (1-12, 1-9) in Section 3.

Top softball games

■ Cassie Szymd knocked in the go-ahead run with a single in the top of the seventh inning to lift Class AAAA No. 5 Penn-Trafford (13-2, 8-2) to a 4-3 victory against Norwin (11-3, 9-3) in Section 2.

■ Class AAA No. 3 South Fayette (12-1, 10-1) avenged its only loss of the season by beating No. 5 West Allegheny (9-4, 8-4) at home, 8-1. Ashley Iagnemma allowed just three hits and struck out eight to earn the win.

Top softball performers

■ Erica Burns pitched a perfect game, striking out eight, in a 10-0 win for Class A No. 5 Carmichaels (12-3, 10-2) in five innings against visiting California (0-16, 0-14) in Section 2.

■ Madison Ludrosky struck out 17 and allowed just three hits to help Class A No. 4 Jefferson-Morgan (15-2, 12-2) defeat visiting West Greene (7-10, 6-7), 6-2, in Section 2.
