High school highlights: Omogrosso scores 33 in rout of Hopewell

Chassidy Omogrosso scored 33 points, and Class AAA No. 1 Blackhawk (5-0, 2-0) continued its dominance of No. 4 Hopewell (5-1, 2-1) with a 71-44 home victory Thursday night in Section 2.

The victory for the Cougars was their seventh in the past eight games against the Vikings.

Desirae Ritmiller led Hopewell with 12 points.

Other top girls games

  • Rachel Mazzie scored 17 points to help Upper St. Clair (5-1, 2-1) grab a 53-50 road win against Baldwin (3-2, 1-1) in Class AAAA Section 4.
  • Jordan Melko scored 14 points to lead Class AA No. 4 Carlynton (6-0, 3-0) to a road victory, 37-29, against No. 3 Beaver (5-1, 2-1) in Section 6.
  • Taylor Thomas scored 11 points, including the tying basket at the end of regulation, and West Miffin (4-2, 2-1) went on to beat Ringgold (4-2, 1-2), 47-42, in overtime in Class AAA Section 4.
  • Trinity (6-0, 3-0) outscored Moon (4-2, 1-1) by 11 in the fourth quarter to rally for a 49-42 home win in Class AAA Section 5. Abbey O'Connor led the Hillers with 14 points.

Star of the night

  • Jalynn Myers had 11 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 67-36 win for host Chartiers-Houston (4-2, 2-1) against Steel Valley (0-6, 0-2) in Class AA Section 4.
