Cubs pound Pirates, 12-3

The Chicago Cubs amassed 19 hits -- including four by pitcher Carlos Zambrano -- and routed the Pirates again, 12-3, tonight in front of 32,656 at PNC Park.

The win was the Cubs' ninth in 10 games against the Pirates this season. The Pirates have been outscored, 80-41.

Pirate starter Zach Duke lasted four innings, allowing 10 hits and five runs (four earned). Pirate starting pitchers have an 8.28 earned run average against the Cubs this season.

Nate McLouth accounted for the bulk of the Pirate offense. He tripled in two runs in the fifth inning, then doubled and scored in the eighth.
