Five Penn State football players who were suspended from spring drills have rejoined the team.

Defensive tackles Chris Baker and Phil Taylor, linebacker Navorro Bowman, cornerback Knowledge Timmons and tight end Andrew Quarless are permitted to work out with the team in the weight room and training facilities.

"Their playing status remains unchanged and will be reviewed after each of them resolves certain academic and/or legal issues," Penn State spokesman Jeff Nelson said in a statement.

Baker, Taylor and Bowman allegedly were involved in an October fight and are facing charges. Timmons was issued a citation as a result of the incident.

Penn State's judicial affairs office has suspended Taylor for much of the summer as part of sanctions for his role in the fight. He is barred from campus this summer through Aug. 15, including classes and extracurricular activities.

Quarless was suspended in March after he was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol.
