"I'll tell anyone: I'm the biggest defender of Pittsburgh and we love it here," said Luis R. Clemente, son of Pirates legend Roberto Clemente, as he accepted the Legacy Award at the 2013 G.I.B.S.O.N. Awards Gala. The Saturday night extravaganza at the Wyndam Grand, hosted by the Josh Gibson Foundation, brought to life the essence of the theme, "Creating Tomorrow's Legends Today." Former Pirates Manny Sanguillen and Grant Jackson were in attendance along with Negro League players Ted Toles Jr. of the Pittsburgh Crawfords and Pedro Sierra of the Indianapolis Clowns and Detroit Stars. University of Pittsburgh head baseball coach Joe Jordano also won an award. Ty Miller, manager of news and sports for the American Urban Radio Networks, was the emcee.
