This year's Ballet Under the Stars, the annual outdoor performance by the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, had umbrellas sprouting Aug. 18 upon Hartwood Acres like mushrooms.
The fine mist did add atmosphere and intimacy to the evening, which is part of the Allegheny County Summer Concert Series. Before the performance, guests lined up by the food trucks while the VIPs headed for the yellow-and-white tent and a barbecue picnic dinner to benefit the ballet. PBT dancers mingled with board members as well as PBT artistic director Terrence Orr and PBT executive director Harris Ferris (with Janet) prior to taking the stage.
Among those lining up and waiting for a plate were event chair Debbie Klodowski, Barbara Bott and Robert Jennings, Helene Finegold and Chuck Gottschalk, Carol Shriber and Chuck Snyder, Dawn and Chris Fleischner, Adam Heiligenstein, Carol Mueller, Carol Tillotson, Tim McVay and David Bush, Nancy and Ed Byrnes and Kitty Hillman. Keeping the young ones occupied were PBT family activities such as ballet-themed crafts and a ballerina dress-up station. It was all tutu great.mainevent
