We're All in this Together was the message of UPMC's Partnership Appreciation Event honoring Inclusion Champions from UPMC and the community in 13 categories. The fifth annual event was held Tuesday in the Herberman Conference Center at the UPMC Cancer Pavilion, Shadyside, and attended by about 200 guests. A cocktail reception and buffet dinner began the evening, which celebrated the Center for Inclusion's mission to promote inclusion and a foundation of dignity and respect in the workplace and cultural competency in patient care.
Guests were welcomed by Center for Inclusion director Jamie Scarano, Urban League president Esther Bush, UPMC chief inclusion and diversity officer Candi Castleberry-Singleton and Greg Peaslee, UPMC's chief of human resources. Charlie Batch served as emcee and accepted the Community Partner of the Year award on behalf of his Best of the Batch Foundation. Also honored were Lucy Spruill, Life's Work, Professional Mechanical Sales and Services Inc., Trish Wood, Bidwell Training Center, Bernadette Turner, School 2 Career, John Krolicki, Marla Pryor, Bernadette Bryant, Dr. William Simmons, the Donald D. Wolff Jr. Center, Sharon Czyzewski and UPMC Hamot.
Cheering them on were UPMC board chair Nick Beckwith Hilda Fu, Latasha Wilson-Batch, Dr. Loren and Ellen Roth, Chuck Bogosta, Scott Lammie, Margaret Washington, Wilma McNeese, Mary Beth Jenkins, Will Cook and Tami Minnier.
