The Allegheny County Child Advocacy Center at A Child's Place at Mercy is not a fun place -- it recently saw its 26,000th case of child abuse. But the work it does in soliciting testimony and forensic evidence is invaluable in protecting children from their abusers. That hard reality was the substance beneath the sugar Saturday night when Lexus of North Hills and Maniac Magazine sponsored The White Party at the Smart House on Mount Washington. The benefit for A Child's Place attracted a fashionable crowd of young Pittsburghers dressed to impress in white, of course. Bevies of beautiful women mingled around the pool in a scene straight out of Beverly Hills, especially because some were models for the runway show. Local restaurants contributed lots to eat, with the bacon-wrapped figs from Savoy a standout. Among the guests were Lexus of North Hills GM Kevin Mullen with Jeannine Ohayon, Maniac publisher April Hubal and Joan Mills from A Child's Place.
