The British are coming -- again. This year's Vintage Grand Prix Blacktie & Tailpipes Gala reached across the pond to honor a great English driving machine, the MG. Although there weren't any on display Friday night at Oakmont Country Club, there were plenty of other makes to admire including a Morgan, a Rolls-Royce and an Austin Healey. A beautiful summer evening allowed many of the nearly 300 guests to peruse the classy chassis before heading in to be entertained by Broadway star Billy Hartung. A silent auction, cocktails and dinner were all part of an evening fine-tuned for fun, which grossed $91,300 to benefit the Autism Society of Pennsylvania and Allegheny School. Checkered flag enthusiasts included event chair Maggie Schmotzer (with John), Rich Haeflein with Dina Marrero, Jake and Toni Zoller, Mike and Beth Zappa, racers John and Dotti Bechtol, Parie and John Duggan, Gigi Saladna, Donna Baran, Matt and Melissa Schmotzer Harmon, Megan Schmotzer, Kim and Bart Buckley, Linda Liotus, Jackie Schratz, April and Doug Mosites, Autism Society president Dan Torisky, and Diane and John Ellis.
