Like the movie "Midnight in Paris," guests of the 2012 Bastille Day Celebration kickoff party found themselves feeling transported to another time, or at least another culture. Fine French Champagne, live music and artists -- some actually drawing -- mingled in the grand entrance hall and drawing rooms of the Mansions on Fifth. The Tuesday night gathering was chaired by Dr. John McSorley, Sara Horsman and Melanie Werner. "If this is the preview party, I can't wait for the main event," quipped one guest. The kickoff party and the Bastille Day Celebration that will be held July 14 both benefit Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh and Alliance Francaise. John Wetenhall, president of Carnegie Museums, Carnegie Museum of Art director Lynn Zelevansky and Alliance Francaise president Barbara Tucker were among those checking out Galerie Werner's "Beauty and the Beast: Figures & Faces in Pittsburgh's Industrial Landscape" on display in the hotel.
