A plethora of powerful, community-oriented women gathered at the Westin Convention Center Hotel Wednesday for the 29th Annual "A Tribute to Women Leadership Awards Luncheon." The event to benefit the YWCA drew 700 guests and grossed nearly $200,000.
The reason for the great turnout was the even greater women being honored. Eva Tansky Blum was presented with the Allerton Award for Lifetime Achievement by YWCA CEO Maggie Jensen. Ms. Blum is director of community affairs at PNC Bank and president of the PNC Foundation. "I admire the YWCA and the things they do for women so much, which is why this honor means so much more to me," said Ms. Blum.
Joining her on the dais were the other awardees; Janet Sarbaugh, Yvonne Cook, Bonnie VanKirk, Rona Nesbit, Valerie Patrick and Claudette Lewis, whose husband, the Rev. Harold T. Lewis of Calvary Episcopal Church, gave the invocation.
The Eden Hall Foundation was once again the premier sponsor for the luncheon, which included a silent auction.
