What's dishing on the blogs: Labor Day ideas By Dana Cizmas http://www.post-gazette.com/life/forks/2015/09/04/What-s-dishing-on-the-blogs-Ice-cream/stories/201509030175 Fri, 04 Sep 2015 04:00:00 GMT http://www.post-gazette.com/life/forks/2015/09/04/What-s-dishing-on-the-blogs-Ice-cream/stories/201509030175 This week, we’re getting ready for Labor Day with vibrant summer recipes and cozy fall dishes.  Here’s what’s dishing on the blogs we follow: At Simply Romanesco, I made Oatmeal with Blueberries and Toasted Pistachios, one of my favorite summer breakfasts. Chef Chuck from Cooks and Eats prepared a fresh Lobster Ceviche. If you’re looking for pasta ideas, try the clean Tomato and Almond Pesto pasta dish from The Hungry Hounds, or the seasonal Gemelli with Zucchini, Tomatoes, and Bacon recipe from Yum Yum. For a sweet treat, Haute Pepper Bites’ Individual Peach Pies are a great choice.  To finish it off, gulp down a tart and minty Mojito Margarita from How Sweet It Is.   On the hearty menu, the Parmesan Princess cooked flavorful Chicken with Red Pepper Cream Sauce, while Yum Yum opted for quick Grilled Chicken with Roasted Red Pepper Sauce. Linda from Dinner Plan-it whipped up a bubbling Philly Cheesesteak Dip ala OC Brewing Company, whereas The Hungry Hounds went with these juicy Bison Bacon Burgers, which would be fantastic this Labor Day weekend. And if you want to enrich your dessert repertoire, check out Brown Eyed Baker’s Favorite Fall Dessert Recipes.       Locally, the girls from eatPGH stopped by Cocothe Cafe and Artisan Eatery in Sewickley for some fried lemon chips, scallion shortcake and lobster spring rolls; Hal B. Klein at Pittsburgh Magazine praised Dinette in East Liberty for its “sustainability;” Dan from Pizza Walk with Me interviewed Ryan Spak, one of the owners of Spak Brothers Pizza; Friendly Pittsburgh Foodie recapped her evening at the Cocktails & Construction event at Station; Good Food Pittsburgh reported that Churchview Farm will host a Tomato Happy Hour on Sept. 22; Sugar Pixie dished about her tangerine tomato plant; and Three Dogs BBQ headed to New Paltz, N.Y., for the Hudson Valley Ribfest.
