Former Perry Traditional Academy basketball star Vaughn Morgan's return to his roots proved short-lived when he quit at Robert Morris this week for what has been termed "personal reasons."
The decision came after an eight-week period in which the 6-foot-6 Morgan's playing time and impact diminished.
After averaging 20 minutes and 4.7 points per game in the first three games, a span that included a 12-point performance against Lehigh in which he also had five blocks, Morgan averaged 13 minutes and 1.7 points per game in the team's past 13 games.
In 15 games with the Colonials this season, Morgan averaged 2.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game as well as a team-high 1.4 blocks per game.
With Morgan's departure, the already-thin Colonials frontcourt has just three players who are 6-6 or taller.
Morgan transferred to Robert Morris after two years of junior college with stints at schools in Bakersfield, Calif., and Terrell, Texas.
