An Elizabeth man is in jail on rape charges after authorities say he sexually assaulted a teenage girl across 18 months in 2009 and 2010.
Ryan E. Brant, 46, has been charged with two counts of rape, a count of sexual assault, two counts of aggravated indecent assault, two counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, unlawful contact with a minor and three misdemeanor counts of indecent assault.
He is in the Allegheny County Jail on $100,000 bail and awaits an Aug. 19 preliminary hearing.
The incidents occurred at a home in Forward between March 2009 and September 2010, the female victim told Pennsylvania State Police investigators.
She was 16 and 17 years old when the assaults began, according to Trooper Matthew Gavrish's criminal complaint.
Mr. Brant lived with the girl at the home, state police said. His connection to the family was not immediately clear.
The girl told state police that Mr. Brant would crush what investigators said was probably an Ambien sleeping pill into liquid and make her take it.
The girl also told state police Mr. Brant threatened to harm her boyfriend, her mother, himself, or the girl's reputation if she didn't oblige.
The girl said she "felt substantially impaired which affected her ability to control her conduct and judgment," the trooper wrote in the complaint.
Mr. Brant had sex with the girl at the home and at different locations without her consent, state police said.
An attorney listed in court records for Mr. Brant did not immediately return a message.
