Two men were held for trial this morning on charges that they conspired to rob a man during a heroin deal that resulted in his death last month.
Rayshon Shields, 21, of Mount Washington, and Khamal Fooks, 18, no address listed, face charges of homicide, robbery and conspiracy following a preliminary hearing, according to court records.
Witnesses told Pittsburgh police homicide detectives that Roger Griffin, 54, of Mount Oliver, met with Mr. Shields and Mr. Fooks early May 17 to talk about buying stamp bags of heroin.
He pulled some money out of his pocket "to show Fooks and Shields that he was serious about buying the heroin" and Mr. Fooks and Mr. Shields pulled out guns and demanded money from the people present, according to a criminal complaint.
A witness told police Mr. Fooks shot Mr. Griffin while he was trying to run away.
