An Indiana County man was arrested Thursday and charged with the rape of four sisters between the ages of 6 and 11 while they stayed with him in Burrell last year.

In an affidavit, Pennsylvania State Police from the Indiana barracks said Robert Allen Lawson, 19, raped the sisters aged 6, 8, 9 and 11 while their mother and her boyfriend stayed in his mobile home in December.

State police said he raped the girls when he babysat for them while their mother and her boyfriend were away.

The girls were removed from the custody of their mother in March.

Police began investigating after a foster family reported to authorities that one of the girls was acting out sexually and described what Mr. Lawson did to her.

Mr. Lawson was charged with rape, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, corruption of minors and indecent assault.

Indiana County District Judge Jennifer Rega set bail at $100,000 cash and sent him to Indiana County Jail pending a preliminary hearing June 12.
