Marcia Sturdivant, the deputy director of the Office of Children, Youth and Families at the Allegheny County Department of Human Services, will step down from her position to pursue other opportunities, the county announced Wednesday.
Ms. Sturdivant, 57, will leave June 28.
"I want to express our appreciation to Dr. Sturdivant for her dedication to children and families in Allegheny County throughout the many years of her tenure here at DHS, and to wish her many more productive years of fulfillment and enjoyment as she pursues the next phase of her career," DHS director Marc Cherna wrote in an email to staff members.
Ms. Sturdivant received her doctorate in educational and developmental psychology from the University of Pittsburgh. President of the Pittsburgh affiliate of the Black Child Development Institute, she is also an assistant professor at Point Park University and serves on the board of several organizations.
