The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette led the way in awards in this year's Golden Quill contest, finishing first in 16 categories and earning best-of-show recognition in another in the annual competition that honors excellence in local print, online and broadcast journalism.
Winners and finalists in the contest, sponsored by the Press Club of Western Pennsylvania, were honored at a banquet Monday night at the Sheraton Station Square.
The Post-Gazette's awards came in a cross section of specialties and coverage areas, including photography, videography, design, illustration, features, breaking news, entertainment, history/culture, and editorial writing and cartooning.
Seth Rorabaugh took two Quills, or first places, for his Empty Netters hockey blog.
Lake Fong won the Ed Romano Memorial Award for best work in the competition in photography.
