Allegheny County sheriff's deputies have arrested a man wanted for probation violations connected to a sex assault conviction.

Sheriff William Mullen said in a news release that Christopher Lee Gray, 25, of Brentwood was captured Thursday night after a foot chase in a wooded area.

He was wanted on a warrant for violating conditions of his probation and parole on a conviction for a sexual-assault-related charge by moving from the address he supplied as part of his requirement to register as a sex offender, the sheriff said. The second warrant was for failure to comply with registration of sexual offenders.

Sheriff's deputies also charged Mr. Gray's mother, Kelly Collins, and a friend, Gregory Pherreigo, with hindering apprehension and conspiracy for allegedly lying to authorities about their contact with the suspect.

Deputies located Mr. Gray in the woods near East Francis Street and Brentwood Avenue. They said he ran but fell over a hillside. He was taken to the county jail after treatment for his injuries.
