The new offices at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens in Oakland will be opening this week to the public.
The Center for Sustainable Landscapes, aiming to be the only building on the planet to achieve or exceed three of the world's highest environmental standards, will be able to be accessed by the public Tuesday.
The building is to be used for offices, research and education.
The $15 million center took more than two years to build.
Self-guided tours of the Center for Sustainable Landscapes are included in the price of Phipps admission, which is $15 for adults, $14 for seniors ages 62 and older and students with valid IDs; and $11 for children ages 2 to 18. Children younger than 2 and Phipps members enter for free. Reservations are required for tours and can be made at 412-622-6915, ext. 6501.
