Police today said a mother and her grown son were slain in a home in the small Westmoreland County town of Arnold.
Officers were called to the Third Avenue home about 11:20 p.m. Thursday after two friends stopped by to check on the mother and son because they hadn't been seen in a number of days, Arnold police Chief William Weber said.
An officer was looking into a window when the family dog brushed up against a curtain, revealing a body on the floor, the chief said.
Chief Weber identified them as 46-year-old Bonnie Broadwater and 22-year-old Lance Holt.
Chief Weber said the bodies were found "in proximity" to one another, but declined to be more specific. He estimated they were killed sometime over the weekend and said they were beginning to decompose.
Detectives with the Westmoreland County district attorney's office continued to comb the house for clues, but Chief Weber said they had yet to find a weapon.
He said they had found no witnesses.
Neighbor PaulaRenee Brown said the pair moved to the neighborhood in the spring.
