Jerry Sandusky's lawyer says Sandusky will fight to keep his $59,000 annual pension.
Karl Rominger says the State Employees' Retirement System has no legal grounds for revoking his pension and accuses the agency of "trying to throw some red meat to the public."
The retirement system notified Sandusky by letter Wednesday that his crimes triggered forfeiture of the pension. The former Penn State University assistant football coach was sentenced Tuesday to at least 30 years in prison for molesting 10 boys.
Mr. Rominger on Wednesday said he has not seen the letter from the state pension system, but said he expected to be successful in appealing the decision.
"I've researched the law anticipatorily, and I believe they are staking out a position which has no legal merit," Mr. Rominger said.
