Michael Mauti has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week for his performance on Saturday against Illinois. It is his second defensive player of the week award this season and the third of his career.
Mauti almost single-handedly could have stopped Illinois on Saturday. He finished with six tackles, half a sack, two interceptions and a forced fumble. He returned one of the interceptions 99 yards to the one yard line.
Mauti also received the Walter Camp National Defensive Player of the Week award for the Illinois game.
