Mayor Luke Ravenstahl yesterday called on his challenger, Mark DeSantis, to join him in two debates while the Republican's campaign insisted that two wasn't enough.
The day after Mr. DeSantis staged a kick-off rally for his campaign, the Democratic incumbent sent him a letter, with copies to news organizations, calling for one debate organized by KDKA-TV and the League of Women Voters and another on WQED-TV.
During the general election, there were three televised debates, two one-on-one appearances by Mr. O'Connor and Joe Weinroth and another including other minor party candidates for mayor.
Mr. DeSantis has said that he hoped to see at least four debates and would welcome more. But Mr. Ravenstahl's letter hinted that he may not be amenable to the expansive schedule his challenger would prefer.
