The Pirates released Nate McLouth, the team announced today.

The organization requested waivers with the intention of parting ways with the outfielder, who signed a one-year, $1.75 million contract as a free agent this offseason. If he clears waivers, he will become a free agent.

McLouth, 30, hit .140 in 57 at-bats this season. The Pirates designated him for assignment May 25. breaking - pirates
