The Pirates agreed overnight to acquire outfielder Delwyn Young from the Los Angeles Dodgers for two minor league players to be named later.
Young, 26, had been designated for assignment yesterday after spending most of the offseason recovering from elbow surgery, then being assigned to Class AAA Albuquerque for rehabilitation. He has batted .267 with three home runs and 10 RBIs in 110 major league at-bats.
Young was one of the players the Dodgers had been offering to the Pirates in the Jack Wilson trade talks in November and December.
