TAMPA -- Actor Billy Crystal struck out swinging against Pirate left-hander Paul Maholm today in what was planned to be his only at-bat.
Crystal served as the New York Yankee designated hitter and batted in the leadoff spot.
Crystal took a ball, fouled a pitch past first base, then took two more balls. He swung at and missed Maholm's next two pitches.
With that, Crystal thanked plate umpire Mark Carlson, waved to the fans at Legends Field and went into the dugout to much applause.
