A mix of new and old helped the Mt. Lebanon boys basketball team knock off the top team in WPIAL Class AAAA.
Kamic Anyang and Luke Hagy combined for 36 points -- including 14 in the fourth quarter -- to lead No. 4 Mt. Lebanon to a 51-42 victory Tuesday night at No. 1 Chartiers Valley in Section 4.
Anyang, in his first year at Mt. Lebanon after transferring in from Michigan, finished with 20 points. Hagy, a four-year starting point guard, added 16.
Mt. Lebanon (12-4, 8-1) outscored Chartiers Valley (14-2, 8-1), 19-9, in the final quarter.
Wayne Capers scored 14 points for Chartiers Valley, which lost its first game Sunday against Montour.
• Devontae Watson had 18 points, 18 rebounds and 8 blocks to help Class A No. 1 Lincoln Park (13-2) defeat No. 4 host Serra Catholic (11-5), 77-52, in non-section play.
• Tevin Bell made two free throws with 15 seconds left to keep No. 1 Allderdice (12-4, 9-0) unbeaten in City League play after a 50-49 victory against visiting Perry (4-13, 3-6). Gerald Doswell-Hardrick led the Dragons with 11 points.
• Gabe Pritz had 17 points and Ryan Thorsen made the winning free throw in overtime to lift host Bethel Park (12-4, 7-2) to a 43-40 win against Peters Township (8-8, 4-5) in Class AAAA Section 4.
• Geno Thorpe had 32 points -- making 17 of 18 free throws -- to help Class AAAA No. 2 Shaler (15-2, 7-1) defeat host Butler (9-8, 4-4), 69-52, in Section 3.
• Players with five or more 3-pointers: Steven Emch, Quaker Valley, 6; Matt Onorato, Seton-LaSalle, 6; Ryan Tappe, Aquinas Academy, 5; Jeremy Hauser, Derry, 5; Jon Shanty, Ford City, 5; Andy Andrle, Pine-Richland, 5.
• Brenna Wise scored 19 points and Class A No. 2 Vincentian (15-0) led by 11 points at halftime on its way to a 74-73 road upset of Class AAA No. 2 New Castle (11-4) in a non-section game.
