Brumbaugh is a pocket passer, and helped lead South Fayette to its first conference championship since 1999. As a junior, he led the WPIAL in regular-season passing touchdowns (23) and was fourth in passing yards (1,593). Through the playoffs, he threw for 32 touchdowns and 2,184 yards, completing 153 of 240 passes (66.3 percent) while tossing only eight interceptions. Brumbaugh is also a solid basketball player, the first man off the bench for a South Fayette team that won the Class AA PIAA championship last season.
Brumbaugh, a senior, was recruited early by MAC schools Akron, Buffalo and Bowling Green, but their interest has waned. He has recently been in touch with Toledo, another MAC school, and William & Mary, a Division I-AA program. He has been recruited as a quarterback and hopes to attract other schools during the season.
When do you want to make a decision about college? I kind of wanted to before the season started, but hopefully I'll get some more offers. Whenever I feel right with it and hopefully that will be soon.
What is the biggest improvement to your game since last season? I spent a lot of time with the receivers this summer, working on the timing of our routes. What should people know about South Fayette football this season? We have a lot of returning guys. We're probably going to run the same kind of offense we ran last year. Our offensive line is for the most part back. Those guys up front are going to be pretty solid.
Best movie you saw this summer? I saw a couple good ones. Probably "Inception." I like those kinds of movies that make you think and always keep you on your toes.
How many Facebook friends do you have? Oh, I'd have to check that. Probably 300 or 400.
The class that I am most looking forward to is ... Statistics. I'm looking forward to having that teacher. He was my eighth-grade basketball coach, and a lot of guys from that team are going to be in that class.
Who is the greatest quarterback in the NFL today? Probably Peyton Manning. Just the way he does things and how he recognizes defense, how much time he puts in studying film.
Preseason football is ... Fun to watch all the backups play. It's
