Pine's board of supervisors Monday awarded a $4.9 million contract to Vogel Disposal Service for residential garbage and recycling collection. The vote was unanimous.
The four-year contract is contingent upon the approval of Marshall township's supervisors. The townships jointly contract for the collection and disposal of residential garbage, yard waste and recycling.
The townships have rejected bids twice this summer because of problems with paperwork in the bidding process.
Also bidding were Waste Management of Pennsylvania and BFI Waste Service of Pennsylvania, which also does business under the name Allied Waste Services of Pittsburgh. Vogel was the low bidder.
The new contract will take effect Oct. 1.
