Pittsburgh to open two cooling centers tomorrow
Thursday, July 22, 2010

Because of the heat, the city of Pittsburgh will extend the operating hours of two senior centers Friday.

The Homewood and South Side centers will be open until 7 p.m. Friday, three hours later than usual, to serve as "cooling stations" for residents 60 and older.

Refreshments and activities will be provided.

The Homewood center is at 7321 Frankstown Ave. and the South Side center is at 12th and Bingham streets.
