Thirteen Pennsylvania veterans are competing in the National Veterans Wheelchair Games in Denver.
At the games, which are sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs and will run Sunday to Friday, vets who use wheelchairs will compete in 17 sports, including airguns, archery, basketball, field events, hand cycling, nine ball, quad rugby, softball, swimming, table tennis, trap shooting, weightlifting and wheelchair slalom.
The Pennsylvania vets competing are Dr. Rory Cooper of West Deer, Tom Strang of Canonsburg, Jim Reimer of Butler, Jerry Baylor of Leechburg, Joseph Allshouse of Claysville, James Bailfe of Irwin, Chris Fidler of Jonestown, Raymond Gilkinson of Waterford, William Lightner of Hollidaysburg, Gary Orlando Sr. of Erie, Bruce Shaffer of Hanover, Kenneth Walters of Carlisle and Gib Gutshall of Altoona.
