Steelers sign four draft choices
Wednesday, June 16, 2010

The Steelers will report to training camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe July 30, and they are trying to making sure they have all their rookie draft picks under contract when they do.

Four more draft choices signed Tuesday -- wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, linebacker Stevenson Sylvester, running back Jonathan Dwyer and wide receiver Antonio Brown. That brings to six the number of rookie draft picks under contract.

Sanders, a third-round pick from Southern Methodist who ranked sixth in NCAA Division I with 103 yards receiving per game last season, signed a three-year, $1,801,000 contract that includes a signing bonus of $586,000.

Sylvester, a fifth-round pick from Utah, signed a three-year, $1,335,500 contract that includes a $116,500 signing bonus.

Dwyer, a sixth-round pick who was a two-time All-Atlantic Coast Conference first-team selection in his final two seasons with Georgia Tech, signed a three-year contract worth $1,292,800 that includes a $77,800 signing bonus.

And Brown, the second of two sixth-round picks who finished as Central Michigan's all-time receptions leader, signed a three-year, $1,288,000 contract that includes a $73,000 signing bonus.

All four will receive the three-year minimum salaries of $320,000 in 2010, $405,000 in '11 and $490,000 in '12.

The Steelers now have four more picks to sign.

To make room on their roster, the Steelers released seven free agents -- wide receiver Jason Chery, kicker Piotr Czech, linebacker Derrick Doggett, punter Adam Graessle, (Pitt), nose tackle Cordarrow Thompson, center Bradley Vierling and cornerback Trae Williams.
