
Penguins defenseman Brooks Orpik today had surgery to repair a sports hernia. The team deemed the operation "successful."
Orpik dealt with the injury from about the midpoint of the NHL season and played for the United States in the Olympics. The Penguins said Orpik's rehabilitation will last four to six weeks and that he is expected to be healthy for training camp.
The surgery was performed by David Berger in Boston.
