Iron City agrees to pay its water bill
Friday, June 11, 2010

Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority and Iron CIty Brewing Co. LLC today anounced the settlement of a billing dispute dating to 2004.

Under the settlement, Iron City will pay $750,000 -- $450,000 of that will be paid on Sept. 18 and another $200,000 on or before Dec. 31. The latter amount will be funded by the salvaging of two buildings at the Iron City site on Liberty Avenue in Lawrenceville.

Iron City also will pay $65,000 in fees and will contribute $35,000 for development of a master plan for unused buildings at the Lawrenceville site where the company still has its corporate headquarters.

The settlement replaces a previous agreement that went by the wayside when Iron City moved production from Lawrenceville to Latrobe last year. At the time of the move, PWSA claimed Iron City owed $1 million. Iron City claimed it owed $450,000.
