A Fayette County teenager suffered fatal injuries Friday when the bike he was riding struck a car on Route 201 in Vanderbilt, Fayette County.
Joseph Geary, 14,, the victim of the 4:43 p.m. crash, was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC Children's where he was pronounced dead at 5:55 p.m.
State police said Joseph was riding his bike the wrong way on a one-way street when he traveled onto Route 201, also known as Greenfield Road, without stopping. There, his bike struck a car driven by Julie Johnson of Dunbar, who receiving minor injuries.
Authorities believe Joseph, who was not wearing a helmet, was attempting to get to a park on the other side of Route 201.
The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's office said the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and chest.
