Celebrations Spotlight: Rachel Scott and Michael Greenlee
Tuesday, May 18, 2010

Rachel Scott and Michael Greenlee wed on September 6, 2009. They now reside in Lower Burrell.

Q: Where did you each grow up?

Rachel: I grew up in Squirrel Hill and Michael grew up in Natrona Heights.

Q: Where were you married? Why did you choose that site?

Rachel: We got married at Faith Community Church in Freeport. We chose that church because of the pastor. He is such a wonderful person.

Q: Where was the reception and honeymoon? Why did you choose those sites?

Rachel: Our reception was at Brackenridge Heights Country Club. We chose Brackenridge for many reasons including the beautiful double fireplace in the reception hall, the open windows overlooking the golf course in the cocktail room and the fabulous food. For our honeymoon, we went to Disney World. We chose Disney World because it's my husband's favorite place to travel to and their spa/dining packages are phenomenal. They cater to all ages, even honeymooners.

Q: What was the best part? The worst?

Rachel: The best part was having my dad escort me down the aisle. The worst part was that some of our guests had a hard time finding the church and missed the ceremony.

Q: What was new, blue, borrowed at your wedding?

Rachel: My dress was new. My tiara was borrowed from my sister and I wore a blue topaz ring on my right hand.

Q: What was the funniest thing that happened?

Rachel: A navy blue ribbon was wrapped around each layer of our cake, so when we cut our first slice as husband and wife, the knife got stuck in the ribbon and we had to grab it with our bare hands. So, the first piece came out a little messy. We could not stop laughing!

Q: Who was your favorite wedding vendor? Why?

Rachel: Our favorite vendor was the dinner entertainment, Mystery's Most Wanted Dinner Show. It was a murder mystery show. My husband is a police officer, as were a handful of our guests, which made it even more entertaining. They did a great job personalizing the show to fit our wedding environment and kept our guests laughing.

Q: What's the most creative wedding present you were given?

Rachel: We received a silver platter shipped from California to our doorstep that was hand-pounded and shaped like a long slender boat. It was very unique and very beautiful.

Q: What's the best marriage advice you received?

Rachel: One simple line of advice that always sticks in my head is, "just love each other."

Q: What is one item of your spouse's that you wish you could throw out?

Rachel: His salmon-colored (ugly) shorts that he wears to lounge in.

Q: What is one thing that you do solely because you love your spouse?

Rachel: Go to Disney World
