Fleury: 'You always start over'
Sunday, May 09, 2010

Thursday morning, Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury sat in his stall in the visitors' locker room at the Bell Centre in Montreal and insisted that, no, he did not expect a carryover from his 18-save performance in a 2-0 victory two nights earlier.

"If I lose or if I win, the next game you always start over," he said.

Saturday morning, the way the question was framed had changed -- Fleury was asked if he feared any lingering effects from a lackluster showing in a 3-2 loss Thursday -- but the answer had not.

"That's the thing in the playoffs," Fleury said. "Good game or bad game, you have to put it aside and start over the next one. You have to forget about it, the sooner the better."

For a lot of people, that might be easier said than done. For someone who earns his living the way Fleury does, it seems to be a matter of professional survival.

"It's something you learn as a goalie," he said.

"You have to put those aside and move on."
