McCandless - North Hills Anti-Racism Coalition will host Diana Clark, director of the Center for Race and Gender Equity at YWCA Pittsburgh, at 7:30 tonight at St. John's Lutheran Church of Highland, 311 Cumberland Road. Free and open to the public. Information: 412-369-3961.

EARTH DAY

Franklin Park - Ingomar Middle School, 1521 Ingomar Heights Road, will host a clothing recycling program for Earth Day from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today. Clothing, shoes, linens and fabric will be accepted. Place shoes in a separate bag, if possible. Goods will be reused or recycled by Planet Aid.

FOR KIDS

Marshall - Pittsburgh Shining Stars cheerleaders is a special-needs division of the Pittsburgh Superstars. Participants practice once a week and take part in three local competitions. Routine includes dance, tumbling and stunts. The Superstars program also offers competitive cheer and hip-hop teams starting at 4 years old. Areawide - North Hills Community Outreach will hold its annual Mini-Masters Miniature Golf Tournament on May 13 at Robert Morris University Island Sports Center on Neville Island. Register by April 30. Information: 412-307-0069 or www.nhco.org.

Cranberry - Treasure House Fashions will hold a fashion show, luncheon and auction from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 1 at the Four Points by Sheraton North. Donations and proceeds benefit women in transition or crisis by providing slightly worn, quality clothing. North Park - The Team Alex 5K/5-Mile Run/Walk will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the boathouse in North Park for Alex Brown, 4, who was diagnosed with spontaneous spinal epidural hematoma in October. Money raised will be used to offset medical expenses and to help make Alex's home safe and wheelchair accessible. Richland - Richland Township Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Monte Carlo night and fish fry for those 21 and older from 7 p.m. to midnight May 1 at the fire hall, 5857 Meridian Road. Proceeds benefit general and building funds. Cost: $5.

Harrison - Community Library of Allegheny Valley will kick off Spring 2010 Wise Walk at 10 a.m. April 30 with a half-mile walk from the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd., to the Allegheny Valley Association of Churches food bank. Registration: 724-226-3491.

The street will be closed for the sale of flowers, herbs, vegetables and deer-resistant plants. Handmade outdoor furniture, botanical photographs and gifts also will be for sale.

McCandless - North Hills Harmony Line Chorus will host its annual member recruitment night at 7:30 p.m. May 5 at St John's Lutheran Church, 311 Cumberland Road.
