Penn State fullback faces second drinking charge
Thursday, April 15, 2010

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- For the second time in seven months, Penn State fullback Michael Zordich is in trouble with the law.

He was cited for underage drinking Sunday at 1:24 a.m. at McKean and Bigler roads, according to court documents.

Charges have been filed with the office of Magisterial District Judge Carmine W. Prestia Jr.

Zordich, a 6-foot-1, 225-pound redshirt sophomore, scored two touchdowns as the No. 2 fullback in Saturday's Coaches' Clinic scrimmage at Beaver Stadium.

In early September, he was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and underage drinking following an incident at 3:25 a.m. in which he was stopped on Bigler Road after university police saw him driving without his headlights on.

Zordich's blood-alcohol content was 0.19, more than twice the state's legal limit of .08 and nearly 10 times the limit for a minor (.02).

Zordich's father, Mike, was an All-American strong safety at Penn State who later played 12 seasons in the NFL. He is a defensive quality control coach for the Philadelphia Eagles.

Penn State sophomore kicker Anthony Fera was cited for purchase/possession of alcohol by a minor last week after police found him drinking from a bottle of Cruzan Mango Rum near his residence at Nittany Apartments.

He was one of the leading candidates this spring to replace record-setting punter Jeremy Boone.
