History Center to unveil Rogers figure
Friday, March 19, 2010

A "life-like figure" of the late Fred Rogers will be unveiled at the Heinz History Center at 10 a.m. Saturday in the exhibit "Pittsburgh: A Tradition of Innovation."

The figure will sit on a bench that was used on the "Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" set, and the display will also include one of Rogers' cardigan sweaters and a pair of his sneakers.

Saturday is the annual Won't You Be My Neighbor? day, coinciding with what would have been Mr. Rogers' 82nd birthday. Mr. Rogers' company, Family Communications Inc., has partnered with the United Way of Allegheny County to promote volunteerism. Details on events today and Saturday can be found in the events calendar at visitpittsburgh.com.
