Electric fireplaces/stoves remote controls

Dimplex North America is recalling about 700,000 remote control kits for electric fireplaces and stoves. The plug-in wall unit can overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers.

This recall involves remote control kits used with Dimplex, Electraflame, Symphony, Optiflame, Electralog and Charmglow brand electric fireplaces, stoves and fireplace inserts. They include a black or dark gray hand-held remote control and also a black or dark gray wall unit that plugs into an electrical wall outlet. Recalled model numbers include 47-1001, 47-1010-R and APT-1315.

Stores sold the product from January 1998 through December 2008 for between $200 and $1,500 for the fireplaces and stoves.

Voltage detector

Fluke Corp. is recalling about 33,000 VoltAlert Voltage Detectors. The testers can fail to give an indication of live voltage, resulting in the operator falsely believing the electrical power is off, posing a risk of serious injury or death from electrical shock or thermal burns.

The recall involves all Fluke VoltAlert Voltage Detectors with the model number 1AC-AI. The testers look like a pen with a yellow, white and gray body and measure 90 to 1,000 volts alternating current. "Fluke" and the model number are printed on the front of each unit.

The testers were sold at industrial distributors and electrical wholesalers nationwide from September 2009 through February 2010 for about $25.

Hooded sweat shirts

Haselson International Trading is recalling about 23,000 children's hooded sweat shirts with drawstrings. The sweat shirts have a drawstring through the hood which can pose a strangulation hazard to children.

This recall involves children's sweat shirts sold in sizes 4 through 7 and S (8) and M (10-12). The sweat shirts were sold in various colors and prints. The brand name Kani Gold or Road Block is printed inside of the garment on the neck tag.

Burlington Coat Factory stores sold the sweat shirts from July 2006 through September 2009 for between $6 and $30.

Consumers should remove the drawstrings from the sweat shirts to eliminate the hazard. Consumers also can return the sweat shirts to Burlington Coat Factory or Haselson for a full refund. Mobile power packs

Tumi is recalling about 5,000 Mobile Power Packs. The lithium-ion cells used in the Mobile Power Pack can ignite or explode while charging, posing a fire hazard. This hazard is only present for units that have not been charged.

This recall involves all Mobile Power Packs. The power pack is black and silver, and is rectangular in shape. The front of it has a small circular control panel. The front also displays the word "Tumi" engraved on a silver button located near the bottom of the device. Style number 14362 is printed on the packaging.

Stores and www.Tumi.com sold them from August 2007 through March 2008 for $135.
