Randle El welcomed at Steelers offices
Tuesday, March 09, 2010

Not long after wide receiver Limas Sweed was walking out of the Steelers offices, Antwaan Randle El was walking in, getting ready to sign a three-year contract to rejoin his former team.

Randle El, one of the heroes of Super Bowl XL in Detroit who left after the 2005 season to sign a lucrative contract with the Washington Redskins, arrived on the South Side this morning -- a move that could signal the end for Sweed, a No. 2 draft choice in 2008.

After being cut four days ago by the Redskins, Randle El reached agreement on a contract with the Steelers last night, just hours after the team signed free-agent wide receiver Arnaz Battle from the San Francisco 49ers to a three-year, $3.9 million contract.

That gives the Steelers five receivers, not counting Sweed -- as many receivers as they kept on their 53-man roster last season.
